Cynthia Rowley Brightening Illuminator Review

Hello everyone. It’s Wednesday again and we are nearing the halfway mark for the week. I hope you all are having a good week. If not, let’s be optimistic that it gets better! Today we are talking bout something that I love: highlighter! This is a sample that I received in a recent Birchbox, and I’m ready to review it.

It comes in a squeeze tube which I’m not a fan of, especially considering the consistency (see below). It makes more sense in the full size- it comes in a pen with a brush (think YSL Touche Eclat).

As you can see, it is quite a liquid product, and I can’t say that I’m a fan. It feels quite wet on the cheeks and it does seem to disrupt my makeup a bit. It requires you to rub it in with your fingers, and the wetness plus having to use your fingers seems to move around any foundation, concealer, blush, etc. beneath it.

It is pink-toned, which isn’t my favorite, but I am open to anything. It does blend out and the pink tone disappears, and it leaves a nice glow to the skin. There is no distinct highlighted look with this product, which is unfortunate for me, because I prefer a very pronounced highlighter. However, if you want one that looks glowy, this may be for you.

Overall, it’s okay. I personally prefer very dramatic highlighters, so it doesn’t strike me as something that I would use much more often. I do not like the amount of wetness in the formulation though. I prefer a creamier texture. If you like these features, though, give a go. It just wasn’t for me.

What are your favorite highlighters? I’m always willing to try out some more.

I bought this myself. All opinions are my own. I’m not getting paid for this post.
