Hi everyone. It is finally the weekend! Well, almost. We just have to survive today. This week has been a tiring one but not because it has been particularly busy. I am coming off of a huge work project that more or less overtook my life and the new project that I was assigned is a lot more mellow (knock on wood… I hope I didn’t jinx anything).
Anyway, today we are talking about a new mascara to me: Physician’s Formula Sexy Booster Cat Eye Collection. I recently did a post about how much I love the original sexy booster mascara. I loved the volume and the scent and the staying power. It was fantastic. So, let’s see how this one compares!
Obviously, you can tell that these products are related just by the packaging. This product has the reverse packaging of the other but still utilizes the same black, red, and lace theme. It is a really cool packaging, but I preferred the red… it made it feel more unique. But really… the color of the tube does not matter to how I feel about what is inside.
Here is what the wand looks like. It claims to be created in a way that will give a cat eye effect to your eyes. Something that you cannot see in the picture, and something that I didn’t notice until I used it was the fact that it is quite a flexible wand. The actual brush, the part with the bristles, is quite wobbly; it is not affixed very securely at all. However, I find that that allows the many rubber bristles (love that aspect of this brush!!) to come through my lashes more completely, coating every lash, and to some extent, pulling the lashes towards the outer edge. The cat eye effect is by no means dramatic, but there is an ever so slight pull to my lashes.
Also, let me just say that the scent is amazing. It is so vanilla-y. It makes me so happy when I apply this in the morning.
There is no denying that this mascara look amazing when I first apply it. My lashes look so voluminous and thick. They just look so good! However, my problem is the way that it wears. The package claims that the product has a 24 hour wear… but it doesn’t look like this after 24 hours, or even 8. I find that it starts to disappear from my lashes. I don’t get the weird, black, powdery fallout… the mascara just disappears. The first few days that I wore this, I hated it. It was completely gone by the time I got home from work. Now, it probably averages about 10 hours before it looks like it has disappeared slightly. You can tell I have mascara on but it looks nothing like it did in the morning. I don’t know what is happening with it; I honestly cannot explain it.
I also find that it makes my eyes feel itchy. My summer allergies are definitely in full swing, so that must be part of the problem, but other mascaras don’t give me that problem (like the Prescriptives one that I’ve been loving). It isn’t unbearable, but it is a noticeable problem for my sensitive eyes.
Overall, it’s okay. I would recommend trying the original over the Cat Eye Collection. The wand and the application is great; I just found the staying power to be lacking. Don’t get me wrong, I love Physician’s Formula. I think that this is the first product from them that I actually haven’t liked. But hey, not every product can work for every person.
Have you tried this? What do you think?
I bought this myself. All opinions are my own. I’m not getting paid for this post.
