Time for another dry shampoo review. I love dry shampoo. I think I am seriously addicted to it. When I got this in a Birchbox, I knew I had to try it out. I’ve been using it for a while and finally have the verdict.
This dry shampoo claims to be extra-gentle. To be honest, I’m not sure what that means. I don’t find that regular dry shampoos are harsh on my hair. They always make my hair look nicer not worse. So as far as the extra-gentle claims go, I don’t notice a difference.
I will say that this does give my hair volume (not as much as the Serge Normant but I didn’t like the way that felt in my hair), and it keeps my bangs looking nice throughout the day. However, there is one thing that really doesn’t work for me. I find that it is too hard to brush out. The formula is very white when sprayed into the hair, and it leaves a bit of grey cast to the roots after I run a brush through them. That being said, that only happens when I use a good amount of product. If I use just a little, I don’t find it to be as bad. But sometimes, you need a little bit more product. For example, after working in the dining hall and being around greasy foods like bacon, my bangs in particular look gross. I need a pretty good amount sprayed onto them to make them look better. I found that it was hard to get the grey cast out of my roots, and when I went to comb through my bangs with my fingers, a bunch of large white pieces began coming to the top layer of hair. It looked like dandruff (it wasn’t), which isn’t any more attractive than greasy hair. So, I guess if you only use a little bit of product, it will be really great for you. I personally believe that the Batiste or the KMS Hair Play are better dry shampoos than this.
The smell of this isn’t bad. It smells like hairspray (think Tresemme). It isn’t the best smell in the world, but it isn’t too bad. The smell does fade quickly and I don’t notice it lingering in my hair.
Overall, it’s okay. I just wish it was easier to brush out, but it isn’t a BAD dry shampoo. I will definitely use it up, but I will not repurchase it. For now, I’m sticking with Batiste. 🙂
Let me know what you think about dry shampoos. Love them? Hate them? Never tried them? I’d like to know.
I bought this myself. All opinions are my own. I’m not getting paid for this post.
