Yay! My Birchbox arrived yesterday, and I’m excited to share what I got. Overall, I think it is a pretty good box. I’m pleased!
There is no particular order to the way I am listing these (usually I try to do it by how pleased I am with each product, product value, etc.). I’m just going in the order they uploaded. 😛 I’m feeling kind of lazy today, in case you didn’t notice.
I was so excited to get this! This is the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick. Stila is easily my favorite high-end brand, so I am so excited to try this out. The major thing that stands out about this product is the color. I received the color Beso, which is the brightest, reddest red I’ve ever seen. It is definitely intimidating, but I think I’m going to try it out and see if I like it! Red is hard color for me to rock confidently, but I’m willing to give it a go. The size of this sample is pretty great; it’s about 1/3 of the full size, and the value is $6.60!
Ugh. I did not want these. These are the Jasmine Seven Fresh Feet Wipes. Like, what? Seriously. There is approximately zero chance that I will use these on my feet. It is quite likely that I will just use them as a hand wipe (which it does say you can do). I’m disappointed that they are peppermint scented, especially because the kids version smells like grapefruit (are adults not allowed to prefer citrus over herbal? o_O). Anyway, they aren’t the worst thing ever. I’ll probably put them in my car and use them after I go golfing or fishing (yeah, I’m still pretending to be an athlete :P). The value of these is pathetic: $0.66.
This is another thing that I don’t love. However, like the foot wipes, these will probably get used at some point. This is the ShowStoppers Fashion Tape. I got two nude-colored strips. I don’t wear a lot of strapless stuff, and I don’t have much of an issue with straps popping out. However, I’m sure that there will come a time when these come in handy, so I’m going to try not to diss them too much. They don’t add much value to the box at $0.83.
Now this is a something I’m pretty excited about. As you know, I love nail polish (just click on the Nails page above and you’ll see). It’s always nice to receive a new base or top coat, and this is both! It’s from the brand Dreams, which I’ve never heard of. I think that it will be nice to see how it compares to the Julep Freedom Polymer Top Coat that I love. There was no size on the sample, so I guesstimated it to be .25 ounces, making the value about $5.59!
Finally, I got the Juice Beauty Oil-Free Moisturizer. I’m actually looking forward to using this on the plane to England! It’s half an ounce, so it won’t take up too much room in my carry-on. The last thing by Juice Beauty that I received was the CC Cream which smelled AWFUL, so I’m hoping that this won’t smell as bad (it has a seal so I didn’t smell it yet). This is a good value as well: $7.00.
I also received a card with some coupon codes for Ann Taylor, but that is a bit too expensive for my college student budget… even with the coupons. 🙂
Overall, I’m pleased. I will definitely use everything I received, and I’m excited about three of the products. Birchbox has definitely redeemed itself this month (check out July and June’s boxes to see some really disappointing ones). I think that I’m going to keep receiving them even when I’m abroad, mostly because I’m looking forward to the giant opening party I will have when I return. 😀 The total value of this box is $20.68, which is about double the cost of the box. It isn’t the best, but I’m happy with that.
