Almay Intense I-Color Liquid Eyeshadow + Color Primer for Hazel Eyes Review

Holy grail product alert!!! Seriously. If you want an amazing eye primer, I recommend this product that I picked up not too long ago. I have been loving this Almay Intense I-Color Liquid Eyeshadow + Color Primer. I purchased the one for hazel eyes because it was the most natural-looking, but there are three other colors to choose from.

I was pretty skeptical of this product when I first purchased it. Of course, it’s no secret that I love Almay! After all, I’ve done a ton of reviews on their products (see blog post links in previous sentence :P). However, I’ve tried other primers from the drugstore (elf) and other crease-free products from Almay (click here). While they were okay, they don’t live up to this. This product keeps my eyeshadow from creasing. My eyes are quite oily, and with this product, my eyeshadow lasts all day with no creasing. Sometimes, if I’m doing stuff outside, there will be slight creasing, but not enough to really notice.

At first I was using this applicator to apply a dab of product to the eyelid before spreading it out with my finger. However, after experimenting, I figured out that if you use one side of the applicator to apply a thin layer on one eye and then use the other side of the applicator to apply a layer to the other eye, it will be perfect. It also helps because the oils in your hands aren’t interfering with the product’s performance. I think this is the perfect applicator, and I’ve had no trouble with it at all.

Here’s a swatch. As you can see, it is a very natural color, and it looks great under other eyeshadow colors (or other neutrals). The only thing to keep in mind is that this product is shimmery. I’ve worn matte eyeshadow over it, and you can’t really tell that there is any issue, but if you look closely, you can see the shimmer. It isn’t over the top on its own (I LOVE wearing it on its own) or under a shadow, so it isn’t super important to me, but some people are particular about their eye products.

If there is one thing I would do to improve this product, it would be to release some more colors! I will probably end up purchasing the other three since I love them on their own.

Have you tried this? Do you love it? If you want to purchase, check out your local drugstore or Ulta!

No affiliate links (all blog posts). I purchased this product myself. All opinions are my own. I’m not getting paid for this post.

  1. Cool! I wear a lot of Almay products because it’s hypo-allergenic. I have a lot of sensitivity to makeup, particularly around the eye area. So I almost exclusively wear Almay eye products. Thanks for doing this review! I’ll definitely check this out!

That is exactly why I wear Almay. I find that Physician’s Formula is quite good, too. I had to throw out some of the Maybelline Color Tattoos because they irritated my eyes a lot, so I’m glad to have found an even better alternative. 🙂

      • Just in case you’re wanting to try new mascaras, I’ve been wearing Clinique’s High Impact mascara (in the black tube) for the past couple days and so far that’s working out well. My lashes look good (possibly better than when I use Almay mascaras) and no irritation or itching so far.

Oooo. Better than Almay? I love Almay! They must be amazing. Do you think they are worth the price?

  2. Possibly. I will say that High Impact is the only Clinique mascara I actually like. I’ve tried other Clinique mascaras that were no good. Most department stores allow you to return slightly used make up. If you hate High Impact, you could return it.

I always feel bad about returning products, because they can’t use them again. Usually I try to find a way to make them work. I’m going to have to try High Impact when I get a chance. I live really far from a Sephora though. Maybe I’ll order online the next time they have a deal I’m interested in.

      • Clinique is in most department stores that are attached to a mall, like Macy’s. No need to got to Sephora!

      • Sara says:

Hehehe I actually don’t live near anywhere that carries them. Macy’s in the same mall as Sephora. The department stores near me don’t carry a wide range of makeup.
